Even The 2%?

I’m convinced that the majority of us live about 98% accountable. The problem with being  98% accountable is that it’s about as useless as not being accountable at all.

It might even be more dangerous.

You see, you go to your small group.
You meet with your accountability partner.
You even intentionally confess just enough to seem open and honest.

But you guard and conceal the 2% that is slowly gaining momentum in the dark.

Provers 28:13  says,

People who conceal their sins will not prosper, but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy.

Confess?

Even the 2%?

Especially the 2%.

Today I’m praying you have at least one relationship where you can be fully known and fully loved for it’s in that moment you find yourself coming fully alive.

How are you doing with the final 2%?

Guess it goes back to Jesus’ warning to “Watch out and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.” A little goes a long way so to speak.

To answer your question, I think your estimate that I am 98% accountable is flattering, but is a bit high. Maybe a good time to seek to work on that. Thanks for the post!

Years ago when I struggled with a hidden addiction to alcohol, I remember seeing this powerful drama at my church. This women was on stage cleaning “house” and God’s voice started talking to her. Asking her about the room she hadn’t cleaned yet. She kept making excuses before breaking down and opening the door for God to clean even that room…the last 2%. 11 years later…it still sticks with me. Hidden sins don’t go away and they keep us from living the life God wants for us!

  3. John says:

Being human makes us imperfect, the way God made us. If we were perfect (without sin) we would not need our Lord and Savior. I confess all to God, there is no reason to hide it He knows it all anyway. Always good to be a “Possabilities Thinker” Thank You! 2 Timothy 2:15 “Do your best to present yourself to God and receive His approval, be a good woorker and one who is not ashamed and correctly explain the Word of Truth.
